MK-1 Vest Cover Overview

The MK-1 Vest Cover is a high-durability, flame-retardant outer shell designed to be worn over the U.S. Navy’s MK-1 Inflatable Life Preserver. Engineered for flight deck personnel, this cover provides protection, functionality, and visibility in high-risk environments.

Designed with a snap-front closure and adjustable side waist straps, the vest cover offers a secure and comfortable fit. Made from a rugged cotton-nylon twill blend, it withstands harsh conditions, while reflective patches on the shoulders and back improve visibility in low-light or emergency situations.

The cover also features hook-and-loop pockets and shoulder patches, allowing for quick attachment of tools or identification markers. Its back harness is compatible with standard fall protection gear, ensuring safety during high-movement tasks.

For role identification on the flight deck, the MK-1 Vest Cover is available in multiple colors (red, green, blue, yellow, brown, white, and purple), in line with U.S. Navy safety standards.

The U.S. Navy Cover Only is for the MK-1 Inflatable Life Vest which is essential gear for elite water rescue crews. The PFD comes complete with tools to help in lifesaving situations—including a I441 Life Preserver Vest, a I001 Whistle, a I921 ACR Strobe Light I701 Kit and a I702 Dye Marker.* There’s plenty of room to fit those tools inside easy-access hook-and-loop pockets and on the hook-and-loop shoulder patch. The back harness fits most standard fall protection gear, reflective patches make it easier for others to see you and the shell is constructed with a durable, fire-retardant blend of cotton and high-tenacity nylon rugged twill. If the wearer also encounters danger in the water, the vest will manually inflate with either a tug on the inflation cord or with the oral tube. *While each added item may be essential for rescue missions, they are not essential for the proper use of the primary life jacket’s functions.
